The Importance of Regular Visits to the Veterinary & Animal Clinic

Your pet is just like any other member of the family; it requires frequent health checkups to remain happy and healthy throughout the course of its lifespan. Our veterinary clinic administers regular checkups to detect diseases at early stages, administer vaccinations to ward off further illness, and give advice on other health issues your pet might have. Our staff is well-versed in everything from common pet ailments to more serious diseases; we will work with you to devise a wellness routine for your pet that accommodates all of his or her specific needs to set up for a long and happy life. Whether your pet is due for a checkup or you suspect that there might be something wrong, our staff will check them over to address any problems and make further recommendations. Read on for a full list of the veterinary services our animal hospital provides to pets in Western New York!

Veterinary Examinations

At our animal clinic, we encourage routine wellness visits to help ensure a healthy life for your pet. During your pet’s wellness exam their history will be taken and the vet will perform a head-to-tail exam. If the vet notices anything that is concerning, recommendations will be made for your pet’s health including pet dental care, weight management, behavior advice, and more. Any needed pet vaccinations will be given, as well as annual heartworm testing, allergy testing, and intestinal parasite screens will be performed. Our annual pet check up exams help with the early detection and prevention of diseases, which means a healthier, and longer, life for your pet.

Animal Vaccinations

Just like humans, vaccinations for your pets help prevent certain diseases. Young animals are very susceptible to disease as their immune systems are not fully mature. Early administered pet vaccinations help ensure that puppies and kittens receive the protection they need. There are a series of "core" vaccines for your pets and several "non-core" vaccines for unique needs. The vet will help you determine which animal vaccinations are needed and when they are needed to keep your pet in optimal health.

At Transit Animal Hospital, we offer various routine diagnostic tests and services to make sure your pet is living a happy and healthy life. This service is also designed to help us diagnose the development of diseases or allergies early on. Our lab tests provide an overall picture of your pet's health. Lab tests may be used before surgery, to show a sign of illness, to be examined after trauma, if there is a change in behavior, and during senior wellness exams. Nail Trimming

It's easy to fall behind on getting your pet's nails trimmed, especially if your pet doesn't require frequent grooming. However, getting your pet's nails trimmed is important as it will help make walking more comfortable, reduce injuries and scratching, and avoid damage to household items. If your pet needs their nails trimmed, contact us today!

• Nail Trim (w/exam): $21.00

• Nail Trim Only: $35.00

Dental Care

Pet’s teeth require regular dental care, too. Before any dental procedure, we complete pre-anesthetic bloodwork to ensure your pet can safely undergo sedation, X-rays, cleaning, and polishing.

If you are concerned about the oral health of your pet, we welcome you to bring your pet to us for a complete clean. At our veterinary clinic, we use a modern, safe ultrasound to clean each tooth. We also offer Oravet Chews for our canines to help break down tartar buildup. To schedule your next pet dental care appointment, please feel free to call our animal clinic today!

Pain Management

Discovering your pet is in pain is heartbreaking and challenging because it’s not always obvious. If you suspect he or she is having issues, laser therapy is an option. We have a Companion Therapy Laser System to provide drug-free, surgery-free, and pain-free relief. Laser therapy can assist with recovery from surgery, injured ligaments, infections, and more. The accelerated recovery time is one of the most notable benefits.

If your pet’s specific situation requires another form of therapy, we go over other options. Our veterinary clinic also has a fully-stocked online pet pharmacy. Visit our store online to shop our selection!

Allergy Testing for Pets

Just like allergies can affect the day-to-day activities of humans, they can definitely interfere and cause discomfort in your pet's day-to-day activities. At Transit Animal Hospital, we offer allergy testing services at our veterinary office. If your pet is experiencing excessive licking or scratching, chewing on certain body parts, rubbing their body or body parts against the ground or furniture, frequent sneezing, or fur loss, you may want to have them test for allergies.

Skin, food, and environmental (atopy) allergies are common with pets. It's important to pinpoint the trigger as there are so many potential allergens. Once we find the trigger, our veterinarian team can help create a strategy to avoid these triggers and discuss if medication is a good option. Our goal is to make your pet comfortable. If you are interested in allergy testing for pets in the West Seneca, Lancaster, Williamsville, Clarence, Cheektowaga, Depew, or Orchard Park, NY areas, rely on the team at Transit Animal Hospital.
